An Individual plan might be right for you and/or your family members if one or more of the following is true:

• Your COBRA coverage has run out, or is too expensive to enroll or continue
• Your employer pays for all or part of your health insurance premiums, but not your dependents' premiums
• You are not yet eligible for Medicare, and have no group coverage

Even if you and your family are helathy right now, you never know what the future holds.  If you wait until you become ill or injured, you may not qualify for coverage.

All individual plans require underwriting.  This means you'll be asked questions about your height/weight, and also about any prescription medications, hospitalizations, or chronic medical conditions you might have had in the past 5-10 years.  Insurance carriers may raise your premiums or decline to cover you, depending on your medical history.  Please be sure to always disclose as much as possible during the application process to acquire the most accurate rates and benefits available to you.

In most cases, you must pay the estimated first month's premium when you apply, either with a personal check or by credit card.  If coverage is declined, or you decide not to keep the coverage, this payment will be refunded to you by the carrier.
